Pin Point Relief
This is the kind of massage where you and the therapist will communicate all the way through because this can be quite uncomfortable and your therapist will want to only work within your own pain parameters. Not necessarily the most relaxing, but very effective for the relief of pain.
Trigger points are ‘knots’ or tight bands in the muscle and usually feel very tender. When massaged trigger points may refer pain both locally and or to other areas of the body in a predictable pattern. These are called referral pain patterns, For this reason when you have a trigger point treatment, the therapist won’t always work where the pain is.
Trigger points are often caused by some sort of impact to the muscle like an injury, poor posture or body mechanics, repetitive use, or a nerve root irritation,
You know you’ve got trigger points if your range of motion is limited due to pain.
